WHERE'S HANK?
Hank is everywhere! The songmeister is pleased to have been included on old pal Willie Nelson's just-released CRAZY: THE DEMO SESSIONS CD on Sugar Hill Records. Also available in DVD format, the project features the Cochran/Nelson composition, "Undo The Right," along with an exclusive interview with the mighty Hank. Busy-Busy Hank has just finished taping an interview with the syndicated radio show, THIS WEEK IN AMERICANA. The airdate has yet to be scheduled, but listen for this great sit-down chat sometime in late April or early May. With an audience of over two million listeners per week, Hank will certainly be reaching out and touching a lot of "someones." MORE OF HANK'S MUSIC CAN BE FOUND... On the HOT, HOT, HOT, new TANYA TUCKER CD (TANYA/Capitol Records). His beautiful "Oh, What A Love" is the ballad extraordinaire on a great project from one of country music's most unique female vocalists. Another great female singer, Lee Ann Womack, recorded Hank's "He'll Be Back" for her SOMETHING WORTH LEAVING BEHIND CD. Lee Ann really put the whammy on this one and if you haven't bought the record yet, (it was released in 2002), you should get a copy today. Country's greatest crooner, Ray Price, has released one of Hank's personal favorites, "I'm Not Leaving (I'm Just Getting Out Of Your Way)" on his brand-new Audium Records release, TIME. Popular young Daryle Singletary has released the Cochran classic, "A-11." The track can be found on his THAT'S WHY I SING THIS WAY CD (Audium). This cut really tickles Hank...it's country the way the Legend likes it. Anne Murray recorded two of Hank's songs for a tv-marketed CD release, COUNTRY CROONERS (Heartland Records). The timeless "Make The World Go Away" and the always beautiful "I Fall To Pieces" got the Canadian Songbird treatment and Hank says "it's a thing of beauty just hearing her sing." George Strait is at it again. He included a version of the "The Chair" in the last-ever concert performed at the Houston Astrodome. The concert was recorded and the CD, "For The Last Time - Live From The Astrodome," is now available in stores. Hank fans will have to wait a little longer for the Patsy Cline tribute (MCA Records). The much-anticipated project, REMEMBERING PATSY, has been pushed back to Fall 2003 release. Hank is nonetheless honored to have four songs included in the project. "She's Got You" "I Fall To Pieces" "You're Stronger Than Me" and "Why Can't He Be You." Vocalists on Hank's cuts? None other than Norah Jones (this year's winner of five Grammy awards), Lee Ann Womack, Natalie Cole, and Rebecca Lynn Howard. WOW! Never fear, Patsy Cline's remastered Greatest Hits CD will be available in March. Cochran' s biggest PC hits have been given the digital treatment and according to Hank, "the sound is amazing." IN OTHER NEWS: No wallflower Hank; he's just penned new songs with country music's hottest newcomer, Joe Nichols. Nichols, well known for his #1 hits, "Brokenheartsville" and "The Impossible," is one of country's most talented newcomers. No word yet on whether Smokin' Hot Joe will be recording any of these new tunes, but Hank really enjoyed writing with the youngster. "He's good," says Hank. "Really, really good." High praise from a tunesmith who is in his fifth decade of hit-writing. On a more somber note, Hank will be attending a candlelight memorial for Patsy Cline in Camden, TN. The February 28 service will be held at the sight of the plane crash that took one of country music's greatest singers from us. This is a personal pilgrimage for Hank, who is hopeful many of Patsy's other friends will be attendance to honor their long-lost friend and companion. Until next time…The Mighty Hank jumps to the #9 spot on the Euro Country Chart, moving up nearly 25 slots in his fourth week with the single, "Something Unseen." Intense media response to Cochran’s LIVIN’ FOR A SONG CD has resulted in a slew of reviews and articles since its April release.
In June, fans can expect coverage in Country Music People (UK), which will run an interview feature, and great CD reviews can be found in North Country Music Magazine, Pathfinder Magazine and Country Music & More Magazine (all in the UK). More glowing reviews will run as well next month in Rhythms Magazine (Australia), Western Mail Magazine (Germany), Country Music News (Canada) and Le Cri Du Coyote (France).
Now that Hank’s back in Nashville, he’s jumping right back into the studio to complete his upcoming gospel project.
